Carolyn Sue Wallace Conder Hardy, 78, passed away suddenly on June 2, 2016 in Midland, Texas. Sue was born April 17, 1938 in Fort Worth, Texas, the only child of Hollis Wallace and Vivian Butler. She grew up in the hard scrabble oil company towns of West Texas surrounded by a close knit family of mother, father, aunts, uncles and cousins. What she lacked in material wealth was more than compensated for by the lifelong love of her family. She grew up in Kermit and graduated from Kermit High School, class of 1956, and formed close relationships which continued for the rest of her life. She married William Hardin (Red) Conder. They had two children, Keven Lee Conder and Kellye Sue Conder Green. She attended Eastern New Mexico University and later The University of Texas of the Permian Basin where she completed her Bachelors’ Degree and her Masters’ Degree. She worked for MHMR and Midland Independent School District as a counselor where she positively impacted many young lives that she later saw as successful adults which gave her great satisfaction. In 1995, after marrying Jacques (Jack) Hardy, she retired from MISD and moved to Boerne, Texas. She couldn’t resist the urge to work with children so she went to work at Leon Springs Elementary School as a counselor. After Jack retired the desire to see her grandchildren grow up proved to be too strong to resist so they returned to Midland. Her three grandchildren were the joy of her life as were her two great grandchildren.Sue was an avid gardener and needed to be surrounded by God’s natural beauty. She and Jack loved to travel and visited all 50 states at least once. In spite of her reservations about Jack’s driving, they traveled the highways of Europe and almost every road in the United Kingdom and Ireland. She enjoyed cruising and they visited the Far East, the Mediterranean and the Caribbean. As a talented interior decorator she was sought after by her many friends to decorate their homes. She loved reading, writing and singing and could compose a song on the spot for anything. She was a devout Christian and was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. She served the Keystone Class in many capacities. She is survived by her husband, Jack, and her children Kevin Lee Conder and Kellye Conder Green and husband Rance, all of Midland; grandsons Taylor Rance Green, wife Dana, and two sons Brantley and Hudson of Aledo, Texas; grandson, Cooper Jordan Green of Arlington; granddaughter Madison Diane Green, who attends Texas A&M University; stepson Jacques Hardy, Jr., of Hirakata City, Japan, and stepdaughter Alta Denice Hardy, of Chiloquin, Oregon; as well as beloved cousins, Saundra Hammettt and husband Mike, Ben Bradham and wife Darlene all of Grand Junction, Colorado; and her extended family and friends who, although loved dearly, are too numerous to list. She is preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Jordan Alan Green. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any charity of your choice benefiting children.A memorial service celebrating the life of this special person will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 13 at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 3011 W. Kansas Ave, Midland, Texas with Reverend Kathryn Boren presiding. Condolences may be made online at www.npwelch.com.,
