Norma O. Kenyon was born on May 24, 1933 in Eagleton, Arkansas to Mitchell and Opal Eidson. They moved to Hobbs, NM in 1935 where she attended school until her senior year. Norma graduated from Snyder High School in 1951 where her family lived for a short time before moving back to Hobbs.Norma married Aubrey Kenyon in Hobbs on October 8, 1952 and they had one daughter, Patrice. They lived in Hobbs the majority of their married life moving to Midland, TX in 2001 to be near their daughter and her family. They were married for 55 years. She worked for the Motor Vehicle Department in Hobbs for many years. She was a member of Taylor Street Church of Christ in Hobbs before moving to Midland.Norma was feisty, witty, fun loving, and very competitive when it came to cards and dominoes. She enjoyed life and never met a stranger. She became a member of Greenwood Church of Christ and enjoyed many wonderful gatherings with their 39ers church group. While she was able to travel about, Norma loved going to Ruidoso and Sedona to see friends and family. Most of all, she enjoyed being near her family, especially her great-grandchildren who brought her great joy.Norma is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Patrice and Charlie Jones of Midland; three grandchildren, Chris Jones and his wife Patricia of Midland, Dustin Jones and his wife Traci of Midland, and Sydney Knight and her husband Will of Plano. She has five beloved great-grandchildren Veronica, Samantha, Clayton, Lauren, and Aubrey Ann Jones all of Midland. She is also survived by her brother, Ronald Eidson and his wife Shirley of Alto, NM and many loving nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband Aubrey Kenyon, parents Mitch and Opal Eidson, sister, Bobba Jackson and precious niece Lisa Neuman.A funeral is scheduled for 10:00 am, August 10, 2015 at Fairmont Park Church of Christ where Norma was a member at the time of her death. Daniel McCord and Don Mitchell will officiate the ceremony and a graveside service will be held in Hobbs at 2:00 pm (MST). A visitation is scheduled for Sunday, August 9, 2015 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Midland from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm.Norma was an advocate of several charities including American Heart Association, Battered Women’s Shelter, and Lubbock Children’s Home.The family would like to thank Dr. PJ Patel, Dr. Ansari, Dr. McKenna, and the many caregivers who lovingly helped her through this long battle with heart disease.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
