Patsy Smith, 86, passed away on October 17, 2014.She was first born with her identical twin, Peggy, on July 5, 1928 to J.F. and Pearl Lockhart in Gilmer, Texas. She graduated from Gilmer High School and attended North Texas University in Denton where she met and married her husband, Monroe W. Smith. She graduated from North Texas with a degree in business and thereafter moved to Fort Worth. Her husband’s employment with Texaco took them to Houston and then back to Fort Worth before moving to Midland in 1959. She earned her teaching certificate while in Midland and taught English and Math for a number of years at Midland Christian School. In 1970, they moved to Lubbock where she worked in the registrar’s office at Texas Tech University. They returned to Midland in 1974 when Monroe began his employment with J.L. Davis at West Texas Gas. Upon returning to Midland, they were faithful members of Golf Course Road Church of Christ. In retirement she enjoyed volunteering with Midland Memorial Auxillary and her lifelong creative talent of sewing. She had been a resident of Manor Park since 2006.She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Monroe in 1988, her twin sister, Peggy in 2008, and her great granddaughter, Kaitlyn Sophia Munoz, in 2013.She is survived by her son and wife, David and Becky Smith, her daughter, Sheri Smith of Arlington; three grandchildren: Justin Monroe Smith and his wife, Kendall, Amy C. Munoz and her husband Alex, Michael Anglin and two great grandchildren: Ewan Smith and Kiera Paige Munoz who was born minutes before her passing.The entire family would like to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to the staff of Manor Park Vogel Unit and the loving sitters provided by Comfort Keepers; Suzette, Rose Mary, Terry, Angela, Andrea and LaQuisha.The family will be accepting guests from 6:00pm- 8:00pm, Monday October 20, 2014 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held 11:00am, Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Resthaven Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Midland, Manor Park of the Alzheimer’s Association West Texas Chapter.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory.
