Sabas Luna Torres, 78, of Coahoma, died Saturday, October 11, 2014 at his daughter's residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Parish. Inurnment will follow at a later date. A prayer vigil will be held at 7:00 PM Monday evening at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel.Sabas was born December 5, 1935 to the late Narciso and Gavina (Luna) Torres, in O'Donnell, Texas and and grew up in Coahoma where he played football and graduated. He served his country in the United States Navy and worked in the oilfield. He also worked for the City of Coahoma until retirement. He loved spending time at the 5P Ranch, feeding the fish and watching the livestock. His greatest joy was his grandchildren.Sabas is survived by his daughter, Cecilia Phillips and husband, Randy of Big Spring; three grandchildren, Hadden Phillips, Bryson Phillips, and Jared Phillips and wife, Jessica; three great grandchildren, Ilianna Phillips, Gizelle Phillips, and Jared Kai Phillips; one sister, Frances Torres, of Big Spring; and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, Sabas was preceded in death by; one son, Tony Torres; one granddaughter, Misty Phillips; three brothers, Santos, Ramon, and Marcelo Torres; and two sisters, Veronica Torres and Josefa Martinez.The family suggest memorials be made to Home Hospice of Big Spring, 111, East 7th Street, Big Spring, TX 79720.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
