Bobby Gene Merrick, 80, of Big Spring, died on Monday, January 16, 2012, at his residence. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at Coahoma Cemetery with Chaplain Walter McCall, officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at the funeral home.Bobby was born on July 20, 1931, in Big Spring, Texas and married Mattlyn Manning on December 16, 1972 in Big Spring. She preceded him in death on April 3, 1996.He was a lifelong resident of Big Spring. He managed the Pontiac dealership for 13 years, worked as a car salesman for Branham Auto and had owned three car lots. His last business was Bargain Barn. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.Survivors include two sons, Larry Bob Merrick and wife, Lola of Brownwood and John Albert Merrick and wife, Vaughn Dell of Burnet; one sister, Nelta Smart of Houston; five grandchildren, Amber Merrick, Zac Merrick, Shaylan Merrick of, Cody Merrick, and Joey Merrick; one niece, Billie Porch of Big Spring; and one nephew, Teddy Merrick. He was also preceded in death by his parents, John Robert and Iva Pearl Walker Merrick; three brothers, Walker Merrick, Travis Merrick, and Lester Merrick; one sister, Opal Merrick; and one grandson, Joshua Merrick.
