A beautiful red headed Valentine, Barbara May Hodson Frigon, was born February 14, 1926 in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Velma May Martin Hodson and Loyd Hodson. As a child Barbara contracted the poliovirus and had to wear metal braces on her right arm and right leg. With a determined loving spirit, Barbara worked hard for many years in polio rehab and although the right side of her body was weak, she learned to walk without her braces. She had her challenges, and with her courageous attitude she overcame them and grew into a tall beautiful red- head. In high school, Barbara's efforts were rewarded as she worked and modeled for department stores in Wichita, Kansas.Barbara graduated in 1944, from East High in Wichita, Kansas and attended Business College and was certified as proficient in all areas of shorthand and typing. During World War II, Barbara went to work for Santa Fe Railroad and became the executive assistant to four business men. In addition, she was elected head of the auxiliary at Santa Fe. One of the party's Barbara was most excited about planning was when she was able to contract Red Skelton to perform in Wichita Kansas. While Barbara was working at Santa Fe, a good looking soldier named Victor S. Frigon, just back from WWII Germany, came in looking for an army buddy. Vic's army buddy was dating Barbara's best friend and they went on a double date. That was the beginning of their "love story" and Vic and Barbara married in Wichita Kansas, August 26, 1947 at the Immaculate Heart Cathedral. On their honeymoon, they went to see Tony Bennett perform and he had the newlyweds dance on the stage as he sang "It Had To Be You" and that became their song. Vic had studied engineering prior to WWII and Barbara worked while Vic finished his degree and graduated from Wichita State University in 1950 with a Bachelor degree in Geology. Barbara followed Vic through their "waltz across Texas" and moved 9 times in one year working in the oil patch and living in Iraan, Rankin, McCarney, Fort Stockton and other West Texas towns. They settled in Midland in 1952. The year 1952 was the height of the polio epidemic. Barbara became an avid blood donor at a young age. As a polio survivor, her blood had built antibodies against the poliovirus and her compassionate heart always wanted to help others. The first serum which was eventually developed was from the antibodies of the blood of polio survivors. Later the polio vaccine was developed.Barbara worked with Vic and they started their business Advance Consultants Corp. Barbara did all the bookwork while Vic worked the oil field, and as the business became successful, Barbara decided to be a housewife and to stay home with her young children. Barbara promptly joined the PTA, became a Girl Scout Leader, joined the Geowives at West Texas Geological Society and became involved in the community and with her church St. Ann's Catholic Church and served as a member of the Altar Society. And every Saturday night that they could, Barbara and Vic went dancing with their close friends. Barbara was always the perfect hostess when they entertained friends and family through the years at their home at Lake Sweetwater and Horseshoe Bay. Barbara loved to make homemade ice cream and enjoy the summer evenings. Vic and Barbara cherished their friends and family. On August 26,2009 Barbara and Vic celebrated their 62th wedding anniversary. Vic had asked Barbara to "marry him again" and one of the last celebrations of his life was to marry his "sweetheart" again as they renewed their vows and celebrated their 62nd anniversary at the Wallace Chapel with Rev.
