Marcia Ruggles, 88, of Big Spring went on to her eternal home in Heaven to sit at the foot of Jesus, on Thursday, September 8, 2011 while residing at the Marcy House. Waiting for her there were her parents, Robert Everett and Louise McClendon; her husband, Hiram E. Ruggles; her daughters, Susan Peebles, Juanette Kaddatz and Linda Buchanan; her brother-in-law, Herman Maule; one son-in-law, Gene Kaddatz; and one great grandson, Trace Hunter Patterson.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, September 17, 2011, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Dr. Randy Cotton, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, officiating.Marcia was born on August 27, 1923 in Longview, Texas to Robert Everett and Louise McClendon. She married Hiram E. Ruggles on April 21, 1950 in Lovington, New Mexico. Marcia and Hiram lived in Lamesa from 1950 until 1969 when they moved to Andrews and then later moved to Sand Springs in 1994. Besides being a stay at home mom when her children were young, Mrs. Ruggles was an educator for many years and was one of the first teachers in the state of Texas certified to teach dyslexic students. She was passionate about education and loved her students dearly. Survivors include her sister, Carol McClendon-Maule of Lamesa; cousin, Betty Marie Dorsey of Mineola; niece, Marla Swaringen and her family of Brownfield; nephew, Mark Maule and his family of Farmington, NM; son-in-law, Sam Buchanan of Big Spring; eleven grandchildren, Chris Kaddatz and wife, Jayne of Weatherford, Kent Kaddatz and wife, Leslie of Weatherford, Karla Stewart and husband, Josh of Grand Prairie, Tommy Peebles and wife, Amber of Ranger, Keith Peebles and wife, Kyle of Tesnus, TX, David Patterson of San Angelo, Captain Sean Buchanan and wife, Brandy of Killeen, Brady Buchanan, Keely Green and husband, Randy of Fort Worth, Sami O'Brien and husband, Matthew of Abilene and Kim Buchanan of Big Spring; 24 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.
