R.H. Weaver, 88, of Big Spring, died on Monday, May 16, 2011, in an Odessa hospital. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, May 19, 2011 at First United Methodist Church with, Rev. Keith Wiseman officiating. R.H. was born on February 27, 1923, in Quail, Texas and married Joyce Jones on August 7, 1948 in Big Spring. R.H. moved to Big Spring with his parents in 1935. He graduated from Big Spring High School in 1941 and soon joined the United States Army Air Corps where he served from 1942 to 1945. R.H. graduated from the University of Texas Law School in 1950 and returned to Big Spring to practice law. He was appointed County Judge in 1952 and then elected County Judge in 1954, serving until 1958. He then continued in private practice until retiring in 2000.R.H. was the Big Spring Chamber of Commerce "Man of the Year" in 1988 and had served as president of the Chamber of Commerce, president of the American Business Club, founding director of the Heritage Museum, and board of directors for the Dora Roberts Foundation. He also had served as a director of First National Bank, Big Spring Banking Center and Lone Star Bank. R.H. also invested much of his time with the United Way, the Salvation Army Advisory Board, and the YMCA, where he served as President for two different terms.He loved to play golf, hunt, and fly airplanes and gliders. He really enjoyed entertaining his grandkids.He was a member of First United Methodist Church.Survivors include wife, Joyce Weaver of Big Spring; two sons, Mike Weaver and wife, Linda of Big Spring, and Pat Weaver and wife, Sydney of Odessa; one daughter, Kellye Weaver of Austin; three grandsons, Quade Weaver of Garden City, Blake Weaver and wife, Kim of Saginaw, and Clayton Weaver of Big Spring; three granddaughters, Christi Tucker and husband, Tim of Midland, Heather McGowen and husband, Bryan of Andrews, and Ingrid Weaver of Austin; nine great grandchildren; four sisters, Helen Chapman and husband, J.O., Ramona Harris and husband, Gerald, Sonia Lusk, and Mary Jane Phillips; and two brothers, Marcellous Weaver, and James Weaver and wife, Bea, all of Big Spring. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Aubrey Weaver. The family suggests memorials be made to the Heritage Museum, 510 Scurry, Big Spring, TX 79720; the First United Methodist Church, P.O. R H was an inspiration in my formative years from teaching Sunday School.I do remember the outings in particular to Ben Ficklin water park in San Angelo. In later years (2006) I had the opportunity to become involved with him in dealing with my Aunt Allene Warren affairs. He in fact bought her house when she went to assisted living. We had the opportunity to go back through those years. The people of Big Spring have lost a great man that gave more than he took.

Wow... My papa how can I explain him? Well he's my hero,my bestfriend,and he had such a generous heart. And he will be dearly missed. I remember when me and my family went to see him in the nursing home I just busted out in tears cause he thought i was my mom. And even though he isnt here physcially he's with me every step of the way, in my <3. And we will be together soon. And i cant believe your gone, but you will be dearly missed and you were always my best friend. But i do remember you telling me everytime i saw you that you LOVED ME!!! and i will never forget you.... <3 YOUR SKYLER:)!! I will dearly miss you.

Joyce, Mike, Pat, Kelley So sorry to learn of the passing of RH. His life, spirit and integrity will be remembered forever. Wish I could be there to hold your hand and hug your neck during your time of mourning. Please know that my heart goes out to you and all your family. RH is and will always be a truely admirable gentleman. A one in a million man who made anyone who knew him better for it. The world is a lesser place without him and Heaven is a better place because of him. Thank you RH for all the things you did for me as a young man and I am a better man for knowing you. I am so sorry to hear of the passing of R.H. Weaver. I have not seen him in years. He was a very sweet kind man. He will definately have his rewards in heaven. I am blessed to have known him. May God Bless you as you grieve the loss of your family or friend. I know he touched the lives of so many people in such a kind, loving way.

Mike and Linda, I want to express my condolonces and tell you that you have my deepest sympathy. I want you to know that I pray that the Lord will comfort you and all of your family and help you to find peace in this most difficult time. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Well where do I possibly begin? My grandfather is one of the greatest men I have ever known. When I think of papa I think of respect, integrity, generosity, unconditional love,warmth, courage, intelligence, witty, hero, security,grandfather,husband, father, and a best friend.....my best friend. I loved you papa with all of my heart and soul. I can't wait until we see each other again.... hopefully I can drive your golf cart<3 I love u and I miss u sooo much!!!!!

R. H. was truly an amazing man and a true Gentleman. My thoughts and prayers to all the family during your time of loss. May God hold and embrace you as only HE can and WILL do.

r.h. was such a wonderful man he was so sweet and had a great sense of humor.he will be missed.

Did not really know R.H. but he passed on some fine qualities to his son Pat who we greatly admire and respect. Our prayers and thoughts are with the family that R.H. left behind.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of RH. He was quite a character and will be missed by all who knew him. I will always remember when he was my sunday school teacher in the 7th grade, many years ago, he let us talk the first 30 minutes, then we had to listen to him preach for the rest of the class, he made it fun. He helped many, and was a great asset to Big Spring. I know that your wonderful memories of all he did for his family and for others will be a comfort in the days ahead. Our hearts are heavy today, as each of us lost a wonderful friend. RH was one of the kindest and most generous individuals we have ever known. He was wonderful to my family and I know he loved his family totally. Our prayers are with all of you. Margaret, Edgar, Michele and Debbie

I have special memories of H and Morris "Joe" from a friendship that had fun times playing golf with lots of teasing and haggling that only true friends could endure. R.H. was one of a kind that will be missed. He was a joy to know.

We thought a lot of R.H. as he was one of those people that you feel like you are a better person for having know him . He will be greatly missed by so many people as he was a unique person.

As a retired employee of First National Bank in Big Spring (1987) I have many fond memories of R. H. Weaver, his smile, his friendlyness and his good sense of humor. Just yesterday I picked up a treasured bell in my collection and inside that bell is a note saying I had received it as a gift from R. H. Weaver in 1986. The bell was purchased in Switzerland. I will now treasure that bell more. I was unaware at the time I looked at the bell that the giver had just passed away on that same day. I pray our Lord blesses the family's memory of this special man.. My symphaty, Essie Jackson
