Jack LivingstonBorn: February 8, 1928 in Ranger, Texas to Ira and Dora Bell Livingston, # 6 of 12 children. The family moved to a farm East of Midland in 1930, later buying a property on Cotton Flat Road to farm and have a dairy. Beginning at age 9 Jack became a chauffer for his grandparents: always telling how he had to sit on a bucket to see over the steering wheel to look at the road ahead. During WWII, at fourteen, he worked at the Midland Army Airfield mowing runways and dodging planes. Jack left home at seventeen to go to Colorado where he worked in the oilfield for Beckman Inc. In 1948, he transferred to Oklahoma City where he lived three years, then coming back home to Midland for a total of sixty-one plus years, connected in some way to the oilfield. Very dedicated to his work. His motto was 'my way or the highway'.When not working in the oil patch he would tinker with all of his projects, building all sorts of unusual toys for his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. July 26th 1948 he married Marjorie Ward, to this union they were blessed with three older boys, and then "that." The boys names are: Jim and wife Denise of Austin, Jerry and wife Cecilia of Andrews, Steve and wife Cathy of Garden City, and Kevin and wife Tonia of Lubbock. His legacy leaves his loving wife Marjorie of 62 years and their four sons, a brother Bill Livingston, sisters, Glenna Cox and Nell Swan, eleven grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters: Lola, Joe, Gerald, Iola, Troy, Jewel, Iva May, and Mike. Graveside services are Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at 2:00PM at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory.
