Wayne Wallace passed away suddenly at his summer home in Ruidoso, New Mexico on Tuesday, September 28, 2010. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, October 2, 2010 at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park with Alan Wallace, his nephew and pastor of People's Fellowship in Lubbock, officiating.The family will meet at 9:00 AM Saturday at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home prior to the service to receive family and friends.He was born on October 7, 1938, in Howard County to Ernest and Era Wallace. He married his high school sweetheart Sadie on June 26, 1959.A life long resident of Howard County, Wayne attended school at Coahoma High School. He had worked for the Howard County Road and Bridge Department for 36 years, retiring in 1996. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and most of all watching his grandchildren play sports. They called him Bear Pa.Wayne was a member of Midway Baptist Church.Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Sadie; his son, Craig and wife, Lois (Hardison) Wallace; four grandchildren, Dalton, Taylor, Hayden and Adam all of Wolfforth; his brother, Hugh Wallace of Fredericksburg; his uncle and aunt, Leon and Nellie Kerby of Sand Springs; a brother-in-law, Richard Nixson of Coahoma; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and his four legged buddy, Copper Jack.He was preceded in death by one son, Randy Wayne Wallace in 1983 and his parents.Pallbearers will be Dalton Wallace, Hayden Wallace, Carroll Hardison, James Proctor, Sun Davis, Bobby Dodson, Wayne Lundy and Jim Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be Howard County Road and Bridge Department employees.
