Jimmy Dee Mowles, of Midland, TX, born April 15, 1939 in Temple, OK; passed away at home on March 18. 2009 after a 27-month courageous battle with cancer. Jimmy was raised by Tony and LaVera in Durant, OK, along with seven siblings in a loving home. Jimmy met his future wife, Fannie Delene Mowles of Sherman, TX and they were married on June 13, 1959. Their union was blessed with five children, Jimmy Joseph, Michael Pace, Christopher Shawn, Scot Andrew and Patrick Thomas. In 1960, Jimmy and Fannie moved to Midland, TX where he was the manager of Seat Cover Ace. In 1982 he accepted a sales position at Bill Williams Tire Center where he remained a highly loved and valued employee until his passing. Jimmy was preceded in death by his first-born son Jimmy Joseph Mowles in 1984.Jimmy demonstrated his love of Midland through his many civic endeavors including his extensive involvement in youth and adult sports leagues. He volunteered countless hours as coach and board member of Midland Junior Baseball Association, he served many years as the president of the Midland Softball Association and was an integral part in the foundation of the Greater Midland Football League.Jimmy was a member of Christ Church Midland, where he served as usher coordinator. He was an example of kindness, generosity, moral leadership and dedication to God and his church family. In addition to being a loving husband, devoted brother and servant of God, Jimmy was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather whose spirit of strength and support will be greatly missed.Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 21 at 10:30 am at Christ Church of Midland, 5501 N Midkiff Rd.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Christ Church Midland, 5501 N Midkiff RD, Midland, TX 79705, Hospice of Midland, PO Box 2621, Midland, TX 79702 or Gifts of Hope-Allison Cancer Center, 400 N Garfield, STE 100, Midland, TX 79701.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland. I'd like for Jimmy's family to know that he has been a help with my fight with cancer. His advice and compassion has helped me from my first trip to Allison. I saw him a few months ago and as we sharred cancer updates his strenth made me stronger. I'm proud to have known Jimmy and know that he has a special seat at the lords table. Jimmy was an usher's usher and the best I've ever seen--bar none. Now, I can be at peace knowing that Jimmy will be there to seat me when I get to Heaven. So long for the present time my friend.

Jimmy Mowles is one of the reasons that our family joined Christ Church Midland. He warmly welcomed us and helped us feel instantly loved and accepted as newcomers. He was a wonderful man of God & will truly be missed until we see him again in Heaven.

I had the honor of taking care of Mr.Mowles when he was in the hospital, and it was a pleasure too. He and his wife are gracious people. I'm very sorry to hear of your loss.

I had the pleasure of knowing Jimmy when I lived in Midland in the 70"s - 80's. He was a great man! We played many a slow pitch softball game together. He was a true winner. He will be dearly missed. Our prayers are with all the family.

I was fortunate enough to have Jimmy as my Little League baseball coach back in the 70's. That was one of the most special times in my life and I will never forget the influence he had on me. My love and prayers to all the Mowles family. Greg

Jimmy was one of the first men I met when I moved to Midland 32 years ago. Our sons grew up together and competed in baseball for many years. Jimmy was a great friend and a great guy. It was pleasure to have been a part of “Red’s life”. He touched many peoples life’s over the years and we will all have good long lasting memories of him. Growing up and being fortunate enough to spend a lot of time with Mike in the Mowles' home, I came to know what a truly, truly, wonderful and beautiful man Mr. Mowles was.
