Jack Reid StanleyJack Reid Stanley, former resident and member of Midland's petroleum community for 28 years, died in Springfield, Missouri on November 28, 2007.Jack was born in1945 in Spartanburg, S.C. to Nicholas and Vera Abbott. He was raised by his mother and adoptive father Howard Stanley. He married Frankie Louise Taylor September 3, 1967 in Shell Knob, Missouri, and graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1968.A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Jack is survived by his wife Frankie; two sons, Steven and wife Janna (Leach) of Sammamish, WA and Patrick and wife Karen (Allen) of Denver, CO; one grandchild, Justin Reid Stanley of Sammamish, WA; four sisters, Carol Lewellen and husband Jim of Mountain Home, AR, Linda Jatko and husband Bruce of Murfreesboro, N.C., Claudena Kramek and husband James of Bloomfield, N.J., Patricia Narducci and husband Danny of Brick, N.J.; and one brother, Reggie Abbott of Bloomfield, N.J. He was preceded in death by his father and mother and adoptive father.During Mr. Stanley's career as a petroleum geologist, he worked with Texaco, Monsanto Co., and Mitchell Energy, from which he retired in 1995. He grew to love the Midland area and enjoyed the friendship of the many people he met, both in and out of the petroleum industry.The clear skies of Midland also provided the perfect backdrop for Jack's favorite leisure activities; flying, astronomy, and photography.Mr. Stanley was a Webelo leader and a youth soccer coach; he thoroughly enjoyed that special time with his sons and their friends.Jack's family and friends miss him deeply.A memorial service is planned for Saturday, January 19, at 1:30 p.m. at the Nalley-Picle & Welch Funeral Home on north Big Spring Street.,
