Mary M. Prevo, 95, of Big Spring, died on Wednesday, January 24, 2007, in a local nursing home. Graveside funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, January 27, 2007, at Mt. Olive Memorial Park with Rev. Joel Miller, pastor of North Birdwell Lane United Methodist Church, officiating.Mary was born on January 18, 1912 in Jefferson County, Texas to John Henry and Fannie Frances Pryor and moved to Howard County in 1928 with her family. She married M. C. Prevo on March 10, 1932 in Big Spring and he preceded her in death on April 12, 1990. Mary was a lifelong caregiver, taking care of nieces and nephews as well as her grandchildren. In the late fifties, Mary opened a foster care home for the elderly and operated it until 1988. She was also a partner with her daughter, Doris, at D & M Garden Center.She joined the First Assembly of God Church in Big Spring in the early 1940's and was a diligent worker in building the church. In the mid-fifties she and her husband, Calvin, helped in founding Evangel Temple Assemby of God.Survivors include two daughters, Ruby Bruns and Doris Vieregge both of Big Spring; one son and daughter-in-law, J.C. and Mary Prevo of Tanner, Alabama; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and one brother. Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
