Willard Brooks (Dub) Johnston was born on March 13, 1932, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Walter Brooks and Margie Myers Johnston. He was baptized in the Methodist Church in Cedar Vale, Kansas, and spent his early years in that small community. Dub graduated from Cedar Vale High School where he was active in all the programs in the school.Dub served in the U.S. Air Force for four years and graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1959 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.He married Mary Ann Lebbin on September 1, 1962 in Ellinwood, Kansas.? Dub was confirmed in Ellinwood at St. John?s Lutheran Church on April 20, 1969 by Rev. Vic Dahlke.Dub was employed as an engineer for Champlin Petroleum Company and spent most of his career in Midland.? He has been an active member of Grace Lutheran Church serving on many boards and sang in the Adult Choir until his health forced him to retire.? Dub loved to play golf and was an active member of Ranchland Hills Country Club for many years.Dub is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; son, Allan and his wife Sherry of Tyler, TX.; daughters Suzanne and her husband Jerry Dengler of Tyler, TX., and Cathy and her husband, Terry Baxter of Lubbock, TX.; eight grandchildren born in order: Allison Garlitz, Rebecca Johnston, Matthew Garlitz, Zachary Johnston, Rachel Garlitz, Timothy Johnston, Austin Baxter and Abigail Baxter; a brother-in-law, Keith and his wife Linda Lebbin and their sons Scott, Mike, and Christopher; a brother, Tom and his wife Sheila and their children Stephan, Shelley, and Debbie; and his Farkle Family: Jo and Bill Braden, Pat and Gus Keller, Ralph and Eudoris Koch, Lorna and Shorty Raven.Dub was called to his eternal home by his Lord on Sunday, October 8, 2006.His homecoming will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 11, 2006, at 1:00 PM at Grace Lutheran Church.?
