Dorothy Lucille Long, 83, former Big Spring resident, died on Sunday, May 21, 2006 at a Santa Cruz, California hospital. Graveside funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, May 27, 2006, at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park with Ralph Anderson, minister of Birdwell Lane Church of Christ, officiating.The family will receive friends on Saturday at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until service time.She was born on February 5, 1923 in Lamesa, Texas and married Henry A. Long in 1942. He preceded her in death in 1979. Dorothy grew up in Big Spring and graduated from Big Spring High School. After marrying she lived in southern California for a short time before returning to Texas where she lived until 1956 when she moved to San Jose, California and in 1962 moved to Santa Cruz, California. In 1989 she moved to Watsonville, California where she was very active in the community.She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Bob Pacini of Redding, California and Janet and Gene Shalayda of South Seaside Park, New Jersey; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Kathy Long of Felton, California and Russell and Lori Long of Capitola, California; 13 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.She was also preceded in death her parents, Perry and Anna Belle Bradford; two sisters, Debra Felts and Wanda Gillihan and one brother, Bobby H.
