Mozelle Saunders Sparkman, 96, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and formerly of Stanton, died on Tuesday, April 25, 2006, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, April 28, 2006 at the First Baptist Church in Stanton, Texas with Hoot Leonard, officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Stanton.She was born on November 5, 1909, in Anderson County, Texas the second child of seven to David Clark Saunders and Maggie Irene Henderson Saunders.The family moved from East Texas to West Texas in a covered wagon when she was a young girl. They moved to Blackwell and then later settled in Lenorah and Stanton, Texas. Mozelle attended school in a one room school. She worked very hard on the family farm, helped her parents in the field, and with all the daily chores that comes with a large family. She said many times, "We worked hard which didn't hurt anyone, but we always had plenty of food on the table, a clean house, and clean clothes every day, and we were a very happy and close family." Upon graduation from high school, Mozelle graduated from a one year business college in Midland and then worked as an accountant for the government. During this time is when she met her husband, Colonel Sparkman. They were married on September 9, 1937 in the family home in Lenorah, Texas In the early 1940's Colonel and Mozelle purchased the Sparkman Livestock Sale in Elk City, Oklahoma, and operated this business for 30 years. They moved to Caddo, Oklahoma in the mid 60's and settled on their ranch where they resided until Colonel passed away on February 6, 1997. A few years later Mozelle moved to a retirement center in Oklhoma City where she was residing at the time of her death. Mozelle loved working in her yard and was very proud of her beautiful flowers and also growing vegetables to share with her neighbors. Mozelle was a very well loved Mom, Granny and Great Granny. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra Mozelle and Jerry Tyner of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Carolyn Sue and Larry Dawson of Arnett, Oklahoma; one sister, Allie Jo Martin of Stanton, Texas; 7 grandchildren, Mary Mozelle Howard and husband, John A. of Houston, Anna Nelson of Ennis, Texas, John Sparkman Tyner and wife, Jane of Knoxville, Tennessee, Lee Tyner and wife, Jessica of Edmond, Oklahoma, Jason Bradshaw and wife, Samantha of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Jack Bradshaw and fiance, Jennifer Harrington of Arnett, Oklahoma and Julie Dawson and fiance, Josh Purcell of Elk City, Oklahoma; 9 great grandchildren, El, Austin and Dan Howard, Marie, Grace and Belle Nelson, Ellie and Lena Tyner and Frankie Jo Bradshaw.She was also preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers, Jack, Melvin, El, Dee and Dan Saunders and her son in law, Mark "Buzz" Bradshaw.
