C.V. "CHIC" COOKC. V. "Chic" Cook, 76, a retired Southwestern Bell Telephone employee passed away on Friday, December 24, 2004, of lung cancer.Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, December 29, at Nalley, Pickle and Welch Funeral Chapel, 3800 N. Big Spring St. in Midland. The family will receive friends from 4-6 PM Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at the funeral home.Chick was born in Elk City, OK and lived in Albuquerque, Fort Worth, Big Spring and Hawley, TX before his many years in Midland. He served as a medic in the United States Army. Chick enjoyed working for the telephone company for over forty years and during that time made many life-long friends.Gardening was his passion; Chic was renowned for his homegrown tomatoes. He enjoyed playing golf. He traveled extensively with his family and never met a stranger. Chic had an insatiable curiosity about life and could tell a story about anything. Oh, so many stories! He was a handsome man with a great sense of humor.The family would like to extend a heatfelt thanks to the staff of Hospice of Midland who cared for him with loving kindness.He survived by Inez, his beloved wife of 58 years, four daughters, Judy Jackstadt of Arlington, Darla Tappe of Ft. Worth, Christy McCabe of Midland, and Toni Berry of the Woodlands and one son, Charlie Cook, Jr. of Midland; 9 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; one sister, Billie Tatum of Houston and many good friends.Chic was preceded in death by his parents, his grandson, Grant, and his beloved dog, Bridget.Memorials may be made to Hospice of Midland, P.O.
