Johnie Bright, 94, of Midland went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 21, 2003. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Monday, November 24, 2003 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel in Midland with Rev. Bob Hopkins, officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories in El Campo, Texas at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 25, 2003.She was born on October 14, 1909, the daughter of John and Nannie Howard. Mrs. Bright was raised on a farm and attended schools in Milam-Hemphill. She attended Stephen F. Austin State Teacher's College in Nacagodhes attaining her teaching certificate.In 1931, she married William Bright in Weslaco, Texas. They were long time residents of the Rio Grande Valley. Before moving to Midland in 2000, Mrs. Bright lived in El Campo, Texas for over 30 years. Johnie was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was an inspiration to everyone who knew her and showed her faith in the Lord in action and word. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church in El Campo and joined the First Baptist Church of Midland upon moving here.Survivors include: two daughters; Nancy Hardy and husband Victor of Midland, Sue Smith of Grand Prairie; one son William H. (Bill) Bright and wife Jane of Midland, and nine grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1978 and four brothers and two sisters. The family suggests memorials to: First Baptist Church, 2104 W.
