Laura Jean Chavez, 46, of Midland, died on Saturday, September 7, 2002, in Midland. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 10, 2002 at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Midland with Rev. Jerone Burnet, officiating. A vigil service will be held, Monday at 7:00 PM at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery Midland.She was born on April 29, 1956, in Artesia, New Mexico and married Johnnie Chavez on October 11, 1973 in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Survivors include her husband, Johnnie Chavez, two sons and one daughter-in-law; Mark Anthony and Veronica Chavez, John Gabriel Chavez all of Midland, three grandchildren; Issac Ross, Mario Chavez, and Rakeal Roberts and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Reyes and Frances Gomez and one son, Mario Andres Chavez.Pallbearers will be Mark Anthony Chavez, Pete N. Chavez Jr., Mario Aguirre, Salvador Acosta, Richard Romero, and Michael Ruiz.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.,
