Luther Carl Coleman, 89, of Big Spring, died on Tuesday, March 19, 2002, in a local hospital. Graveside funeral services will be at 11:30 AM Friday, February 22, 2002, at Trinity Memorial Park with Jerry Krueger, officiating. He was born on September 7, 1912 in Loraine, Texas and married Alma Schackel on January 27, 1938 in Ackerly, Texas. She preceded him in death on November 3, 1991. Mr. Coleman came to Big Spring in 1939 and was a cement contractor. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ackerly, a member of the Knights of Pythias, a member of the International Order of Oddfellows and a member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Jake and Polly Coleman of Ropesville; his daughter and son-in-law, Carlene and Jerry Barron of Seabrook; a brother, Leonard Coleman of Ackerly; a sister, Margaret Norman of San Angelo; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
