Ann Workman, 72, of Stanton, died on Friday, May 25, 2001, in a Midland hospital. Graveside funeral services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland with the Rev. J. B. Shewmake, pastor of Travis Baptist Church of Midland, officiating and Rev. David Harp, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Stanton, assisting. She was born on October 22, 1928 in Arkansas City, Kansas and married David Workman on September 7, 1947 in Dumas, Texas. He preceded her in death on March 29, 1998. Mrs. Workman was a graduate of Texas Tech University and taught high school for Grady Independent School District for 20 years. She was the Debate coach and took teams to the state competition for five consecutive years and was the director of the UIL One-Act Play. She had also been a Scout Leader. She was a member of First Baptist Church, in Stanton. She was also a member of the Stanton Study Club and Friends of the Museum and volunteered at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Big Spring. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law Cathy and Danny Scheffel of Abilene, one son and daughter-in-law, David M. and Sherry Workman of Katy and two grandchildren. Her parents and two sisters also preceded her in death. The family suggests memorials to: West Texas Boys Ranch, 10223 Boys Ranch Rd., San Angelo, Texas 76904 or to the donors favorite charity.
