William Roy Mahurin, 72, of Austin, Texas, passed away on August 11, 2016. The funeral service will be held at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, August 15, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.William Roy Mahurin was born on September 18th, 1944, in Lamesa, Texas to Nelson and Ruby Mahurin. He loved music; writing and singing songs was a time of reflection and worship. He enjoyed working on projects and he took pride in creating and repairing anything from furniture to broken toys. Some of his most treasured memories were times spent fishing with family and friends. He reveled in the challenge of a good catch.He is survived by the mother of his children and forever family, Mary Manford; his daughters Deanna Schobey and her husband William, Becky Biehler and her husband Adam; his granddaughters, Katie and Taylor Schobey, and Kylie Biehler, and his grandsons, Jackson and Carter Biehler; his sister Sue Weir, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.He is preceded in death by his parents, Nelson and Ruby Mahurin, his twin brother Coy Mahurin, and his sister Patsy Weir.The family is grateful for the many prayers, words of love, and support. They would like to extend appreciation for Dr. Punit Chadha and his staff at Texas Oncology and Hospice Austin’s Christopher House for their compassionate and supportive care.Pallbearers will be William Schobey, Adam Biehler, Barry Mahurin, Daren Weir, Diron New, and Steve Weir.Honorary pallbearers will be Ron Mahurin, Jimmy Mahurin, Billy J. Weir, and John Frank Weir.Memorials can be donated to Hospice Austin’s Christopher House.,
